My curiosity is more focused on garment printing, specifically about the sweatshirt business, which I think was the earliest of the garments. Of course, screen printing of all sorts of artwork on all sorts of surfaces really took off after Warhol (1962). THANKS for those links Roz! I’m not at all surprised by it being an ancient technique, and I was aware of early 20th century artistic and commercial screen printing on paper. I used the Gocco's fabric ink to print T-shirts and hats (with the handheld stamper that you could buy for Print Gocco), but it looks like the Yudu people want to push the fabric use of their product and that could be very fun. I love that they have a little holder for keeping t-shirts flat. Consumables seem pretty expensive, but they have to be looked at on this larger final size. Tell them that you want to see one!Īnd when you do see one write to me and let me know what you think! This is a more expensive machine than the small Print Gocco, but it has a bigger live area. I mention Michaels because they have shops across the country and you might be able to see a demonstration of this set up at your local store. You can go to the site Jon found or you can go to Michaels where they have info on it.

So it's great that we have that name now from Jon: Yudu.

I also had trouble finding out a lot about it. In March Darin at Wet Paint gave me a heads up about this machine, but I didn't want to spend the money to try it (it costs about $250 Wet Paint doesn't sell it) at the time. I'm mentioning here, in a separate post, because some people don't read comments, that Jon Harl wrote in and mentioned the Yudu Screen Printer as an alternative to the now defunct Print Gocco.
